There isn't a lot of information out there on the internet about Nadine guitars. They were a short lived brand from a UK guitar importer in the late 80's/early 90's, along with similar guitars out of Japan by Fernandes and Tokai etc.
From what I can gather, in the mid 80's Fender was sold by CBS and stock had all but dried up in the UK. Dixie Kidd, of Dixie's Guitars in Huddersfield, saw a gap in the market and commissioned 300 guitars to be manufactured by Fujigen in Japan. What the split was between the different models I don't know, but it appears there were Standard and Special (HSS layout) Strats, as well as Jazz/Precision Basses.
Starting from around £225 in 1985, they were a step above the cheaper Japanese copies, and seem to be well regarded high quality guitars. There's an old review from "In Tune" magazine here (February 1986 Nadine Special Review), they seemed to like it!
My guitar is a "Standard", with the typical 3 single coil layout. I believe I got for my birthday in 1989. It got heavy use throughout the 90's... before declining usage and sitting it its case for ~15 years. Needless to say it's in need of a little TLC.
The more obvious things are some rust/corrosion on screw heads and bridge, and the pick guard is warped by the neck pickup, raising it up towards the strings.
Since starting to play guitar again, I've bought a much more expensive Ibanez. My Nadine has sentimental value though, and I'd like to learn more about guitar setup and upgrades. So this would seem like the ideal project opportunity!
I'll document and photo my progress as I go, and provide reasons why I chose particular parts.
